Unvented Cylinder Installation in Mansfield
Sometimes heating and plumbing work is straightforward.
Old cylinder out. New cylinder in. Job done.
And sometimes, the property throws you a challenge that means experience, planning and problem-solving matter far more than simply fitting standard equipment.
This Mansfield hot water cylinder installation was one of those jobs.
The challenge
The customer needed their old hot water cylinder replacing, but there was one major issue.
The available cupboard space was extremely limited.
A standard replacement cylinder simply was not going to fit properly. Trying to squeeze in an off-the-shelf unit would have created access issues, potential servicing problems, and an installation that felt like a compromise from day one.
That is not how we like to work.
Instead of forcing the wrong solution, we stepped back, assessed the space properly, and sourced a bespoke hot water cylinder designed specifically for the available dimensions.
That meant the customer would still get a modern, reliable hot water system without compromising safety or future accessibility.
Protecting the customer’s home first
When carrying out installations inside occupied homes, the work itself is only part of the job.
How the property is treated matters just as much.
Before we started removing the old cylinder, we fully protected the surrounding area.
Floor coverings were put down.
Walkways were protected.
Nearby surfaces were covered.
Because while this may be another working day for us, it is still somebody’s home, and it should be treated with respect.
The installation
Once the area was prepared, the existing cylinder was safely removed.
As with many replacement jobs, the pipework required adjustments to suit the new setup, particularly because this was a custom-sized cylinder rather than a standard direct swap.
Careful planning here makes all the difference.
Our engineers adapted the pipework where needed, positioned the bespoke Tempest stainless steel cylinder precisely into the restricted space, and completed the installation with careful attention to every detail.
That included:
- Safe pressure setup
- Correct safety valve installation
- Accurate pipe connections
- Final commissioning and checks
- Testing for proper operation
With unvented hot water cylinders, getting these details right is essential.
These systems operate under mains pressure and must be installed correctly for both performance and safety.
The result
The finished installation looked exactly how it should.
Clean.
Neat.
Professionally fitted.
Most importantly, the customer now has a reliable modern hot water system that fits the available space perfectly, without compromise.
No awkward access issues.
No poor fitting shortcuts.
No unnecessary disruption to the home.
Just the right solution, properly installed.
